The selection panel usually consists of three people, although it can sometimes have more members for senior positions.
The panel includes:
- one person with a detailed working knowledge of the requirements of the position, usually the supervisor
- at least one member of general staff at the same salary level as the advertised position or higher
- another person, often from outside the immediate work area
There should be at least one female and one male member on the panel. One of the panel members will chair the interview.
